EDUCATIONAL LOAN
Yes, some colleges/Universities do allow fees payment in
installments or semester wise, keeping in mind the international student’s welfare.
Most Universities require the students to pay part of the tuition fees in advance
in order to reserve a place for them in the university. In any case we recommend
that all students should make a deposit payment as it facilitates in getting a student
visa as well as bursaries from the Universities.
On the other hand, certain program providers require the students to pay the fees
in lump sum. But, there is also an option wherein, students on special request can
pay the fees in installments. Santa Monica works with such institutions, therefore
, to avail benefits of these special tuition schemes.
There are many scholarships designed specifically to help
student’s overseas studies so be sure to investigate all your options through university/college
websites. There are merit based and seasonal scholarships available by institutions
and it varies. A thorough assessment of your educational records will determine
if you qualify for the same or not.
Here at Santa Monica, on special request to our overseas associates, special scholarships
and discounts other than those generally announced by the Universities/colleges
are available for select courses. Santa Monica will also be shortly introducing
a scholarship exam through which deserving students will be awarded partial or full
scholarship on tuition fees.

SCHOLARSHIP
The following are the
basic things you should keep
in mind while planning your studies abroad:
- Choose an appropriate program based on your previous educational background, passion
or interest.
- Have a clear idea about your financial resources and gather maximum knowledge about
the educational loans.
- Check the credibility of the institution you plan to apply through authorized resources.
- Choose the right consultant who can offer authentic expertise.
- Study the country you wish to go to, its culture, language, environment, lifestyle
etc.
- Make sure that all your academic and personal documents are ready. They should not
be forged or false in any way.
- Last but not the least, you should have a passport!
Please refer to the below link:
OUR SERVICES
Step 1 - Prioritize your requirements- What is most important
for you?
- The subject I'm studying
- The qualification I will gain
- The language I'm studying in
- The languages I want to learn
- The country I study and live in
- How much it will cost
- My career opportunities following the course
We recommend you to enlist all your considerations, in order of priority before
moving on to the next step.
Step 2 - Gather information- How do you go about finding the right information?
- Internet - most universities and institutions have their own websites with course
and faculty information. Other websites also provide non-course information (e.g.
about living conditions or student life).
- Course prospectus - These are usually free. The prospectuses can often be downloaded
from the university's website as well.
- School/university library - your local school or university library should have
information for students looking to continue their education.
- Word-of-mouth - ask friends or colleagues if they have studied in particular institutions,
or if they know someone who has. This is a credible source of information and a
more personal feel for a course, a university or a country.
- Santa Monica’s student advisors - these specialists can help clarify your further
education needs through one-to-one contact.
Start gathering information early. If you start late, you may run out of time, the
quality of your research compromised, or you may miss application deadlines.
Step 3 - Search and find- Narrow down your prospective choices to around six to
eight courses/universities.
Here are some guidelines:
- If you have not already done so, contact the university/institution directly - the
admissions office, as well as the course director or professor.
- Do not take everything you read in the prospectus at face value. Use the contacts
you have built up to check the facts.
- Compare the courses carefully - they may have the same name, but the course content
may differ substantially.
- Check other course information like the structure (compulsory and optional elements),
timeframe, teacher-student ratio, share of mature students, etc.
- Check what academic support you can expect - library resources, Internet access,
tutor availability, bursaries.
- Consider extra-curricular factors - language, costs, location.
- Consider the value of the course to furthering your career.
Through these measures you can draw up a final list of courses you are interested
in. Apply for more than one - you must not assume that you are guaranteed a place,
and it is preferable to have three or four offers to choose from.
Good luck!

These are certain programs which are framed or organized
in such a manner that some of its semesters are undertaken in the home country and
some abroad in a renowned international University. There are colleges in India
that work in close collaboration with foreign Universities and offer great study
programs to aspiring students. Here, often degrees are awarded by foreign institutions
and in some cases by the institution in the home country or even by both. This greatly
depends on the policies between the countries and the program providers. Contact
Santa Monica for further details on the same.
A dual degree is a program that falls under the two tier
plan that is, while pursuing your International degree you can additionally study
one more program or subject. Thus, at the end of the program you will be awarded
two degrees instead of one. Here, you might have to study extra modules in the time
frame given by the institution, which could either be the same time allotted for
the first degree or, could be a year more or so. Santa Monica associates with various
institutions that offer such programs.
The new set of rules is not a threat to those students who
are serious about their academic or professional goals. The new regulations are
not to stop immigrants or international students rather; it is just a step to pool
in quality crowd. Moreover, these rules will definitely increase academic and professional
opportunities with higher value. Visas are granted for courses below degree level
with a work placement only if the institutions they attend are on a new register,
the Highly Trusted Sponsors List.
According to the new rules, less evidence is required to
obtain a student visa for Australia. Various documents like the English language
tests, evidence of funds and evidence of academic qualifications has been relaxed
largely. For all the student visa applications lodged on or after April 1, 2011,
need to illustrate funds for only two years of their studies instead of the currently
required three years. Moreover, such funds are required to be only three-months
old against the six-month old requirements as it is currently in place.
The new law
that came into effect in April 2011 allows the sponsorship of students by
any individual against the current legal requirement, which limits the sponsorship
to applicant’s spouse, parents, siblings, grandparents and uncle or aunt meeting
a certain criterion.

Today the most preferred destination for higher studies
is the United States. In terms of education, United States has world-class facilities,
amenities and an atmosphere that is extremely conducive to personal and social growth
of students. Education in the US makes an individual truly global and strengthens
his position in the international job market. American education dramatically enhances
a student’s long-term career goals. The experience builds critical thinking skills,
develops self-confidence and cross-cultural skills and all of these attributes are
highly valued by employers worldwide. Various options of undergraduate, postgraduate
and Ph. D programs are available in the universities of USA. Internships in leading
industries, flexibility, part-time courses, placements into highly acclaimed organizations
around the globe makes US education impeccable.
Focused to mould students into leaders and thinkers of tomorrow, the cutting-edge
postgraduate programs in USA are very popular. Some of them include: aerospace,
aviation, media and communication, computer science, finance, e-commerce, engineering,
fashion, human resources management, marketing, linguistics, management, psychology,
medicine, performing arts, MBA and many others.
The Post Graduate programs in USA generally have two years course duration. After
finishing the masters’ degree students can pursue Ph. D programs. The time duration
of the Ph. D program depends on the student’s course, his/her ability and complexity
of the research work allotted. In addition, students regularly get the opportunity
to work with and learn from some of the finest researchers in the world. Qualifications
awarded by the U.S. universities are recognized throughout the world for its academic
brilliance.
The program structure in the US lays equal emphasis on building a strong theoretical
base along with importance on practical, employment-related skills. The Universities
lay emphasis on acquainting students with the latest in the field of science, engineering
and related specialization areas. The result is work-ready graduates with appropriate
skills using the most recent technology.
Europe has many hundreds of higher education institutions,
renowned as centers of excellence around the world. The
European Higher Education
Area (EHEA) is helping to reinforce the attractiveness of higher education
in Europe.
The EHEA is a region with an excellent knowledge base and cutting-edge research
facilities in internationally renowned centers of excellence. Increasing mobility
and links between national higher education systems serve to reinforce this attraction.
Foreign students coming to Europe can see for themselves the amazing diversity available
to them (both inside and outside the university), while taking advantage of the
smooth transferability of coursework, qualifications and research opportunities.
There are various Bachelors, Masters, Ph. D and Doctoral programs in diverse fields
like; Science, Technology, Arts, Business, Hospitality, Medicine, Computing, Engineering,
Social Sciences, Health and Welfare, Law etc.
Most of the advanced countries like Canada, New Zealand,
US, Australia etc offer stay back opportunities and post study work permits to eligible
candidates. Most of the 1 year programs have a stay back option for 3 years or so.
But, these policies are subjected to change in a timely manner. If the student after
completing his/her program finds a suitable employer and acquires the employment
status, he/she can stay back. There are numerous job opportunities abroad depending
on your skills and expertise. Some countries may also have high demand for human
resources, which marks a rise in employment opportunities or stay back/post study
work choices for International students.
Also, some countries like Canada, NZ and Australia give additional point advantage
to PR applicants who hold qualifications from their countries and students with
certain qualifications may be able to apply onshore without leaving the country
after their studies. UK has recently introduced certain change in Rules regarding
working in UK after studies.
Most Universities and colleges have international student guidance cells where they
provide the placement and career assistance. Some programs have a work placement
component incorporated in them that expose students to the international work place
and employers, which increases chances for employment.
You could discuss with our expert counselors to avail further information on the
same.
It depends on the migration consultant largely. A point
based system is followed, which determines whether you qualify for PR in a particular
country or not. These points are calculated based on one’s professional category,
qualification, age, language, qualification of the spouse etc. The demand for immigrants
also rises if there is a skill shortage in that country. Expert advice should be
taken from lawyers and renowned agencies.
Santa Monica provides free advice to its
clients.
Most of the countries legally permit you to work up to 10
to 20 hours per week during the study term and 40 hours a week during holidays.
This keeps on changing as per the international students’ visa rules, about which
you can update yourself through the concerned official websites or by consulting
with executives of Santa Monica. Full time work rights can be obtained either during
vacations or upon completion of the program.
Yes, majority of the International students in various countries
meet their living expenses with their part time jobs. But, it again depends on the
way students spend, their lifestyle etc. On the other hand, some students give more
importance to study than work, so they do not spend extra time on work. Thus, their
income may be limited. So, it depends from person to person.
Students get a minimum wage as directed by the Government, depending upon the kind
of their job. This can cover up an average level of living expense of a student.
They are best advised not to depend and concentrate fully on part time jobs as the
prime intention of overseas education is not a part time job, but to study in order
to equip you to excel in an international work environment.
Working in the University or college is known as an on-campus
job and working outside the premises of the college with special permission is called
an off-campus job. Not all countries allow off-campus job options and some allow
students to take up these kinds of jobs outside the campus only after a period of
time. These work rights depend on countries and program providers. Consult with
us to get a fairer picture on countries that offer such benefits.
Yes, Universities do provide excellent assistantship opportunities
on-campus, but it greatly depends on your skills, academic record and other qualifications.
International students can avail such work rights or benefits only after a certain
period of study so that the institution can assess the students. Also, please be
advised that such assistantship jobs are limited in number therefore, only the best
will qualify for the same.
If you are enrolled in an internationally recognized program
then the job prospects are very high in the global market. There are placement cells
and student support centers in Universities abroad to assist students to apply for
their desired jobs, appear for certification exams and interviews, design resumes
etc. It is imperative that students apply rightly to the right job. There are excellent
opportunities in the International market, one need to locate them well.
Right consultation can be availed in this regard from
Santa Monica.
Yes, there are many programs in various countries which
allow the spouses to accompany full time students on a dependent visa. Students
should show that adequate funds are available to support their dependents/spouse.
Also, it depends on the visa officer who should get convinced that your spouse’s
presence is important to realize your goal abroad that is, to purses higher studies.
Spouses/Dependents can also work full time while on a dependent
visa in some countries. We strongly advise that spouse should join the students
after their initial re-location.
That’s what we advice! It is always better to be employed
in the same field of knowledge, education, and experience. Also, please note that
some countries do not allow students to work in an area outside their knowledge
or education.
Certain programs have mandatory internship field wherein,
the students have to work in the area of their specialization to show practical
knowledge or experience. This is necessary to complete a particular study program
or degree. These internships are organized by the program providers in association
with the employers. Some employers choose to pay their interns and that becomes
paid internships and some choose to employ them as unpaid trainees.
Yes, provided you change your visa status from a student
visa to a work visa. You could re-enter on a work visa and can also study part time
depending on the policies or norms of the country and the institution. We advise
that International students don’t switch to a full time job on a student visa
First of all, it is entirely a wrong idea to think about
earning a lot of money rather than accomplishing higher studies on a student visa.
Students can certainly earn money through part time jobs, but that
SHOULD NOT
be the main goal. Such an intention can land them in serious legal problems. On
a student visa every foreign student should aim at studies!
International students have huge opportunities to study
further in the same country. They can extend their visa and take new admission/application
to either the same institution or different one to pursue further education. They
can extend their visa offshore that is, from the home country and re-enter the foreign
country on a new status. Or else, they could do it onshore that is, while staying
in the foreign country the visa could be extended. This depends on the country rules
and foreign policies.
Each country and program provider has different intakes
for different programs. Generally,
3 months prior to the admissions applications
are accepted. Some countries also undertake midterm intakes for particular programs.
Further information on the same could be availed from our expert counselors dealing
with admissions.
The foreign admission process is lengthy. It is advisable
if the submission is done at least 5-6 months before the deadline. If you send your
documents well before the deadlines, you will have better chances of getting admission
as well as get priority for housing, bursaries and even Scholarships.
In most countries, international and domestic students need
to demonstrate different entry requirements. International students usually are
required to submit an English proficiency test score (IELTS, TOEFL or PTE) in addition
to other documents. All programs offered at these colleges / Universities have specific
entry requirements which will be discussed with you by the assigned counselor. Specific
entry requirements are also available at the relevant college /university website.
First, it is imperative for you to be well read about the
University you wish to study in. Thoroughly study the website of the institution.
You must assess your eligibility and interests, know the admission criteria, qualifying
examinations that you need to undertake etc. Approach an apt and qualified consultancy

country for the students to meet and interact with them. There are various
workshops

the mistakes. Here, educational consultancies play a vital role and can help you
in meeting the requirements aptly and reapply to the same institution. We undertake
