FRANCE
It is a very old French tradition to welcome foreign students. Since the middle
ages, and the birth of La Sorbonne, the first French University, more than 800 years
ago, students from all over world come to France to study, especially theology,
medicine and law.

France remains a major presence in the modern world and continues to be a huge contributor to the fields of science, art, cinema, fashion, technology,
politics, philosophy, archeology, trade and economics. Students studying in France today can benefit from a variety of opportunities and exciting developments in the French culture and economy.
In 1998, the French government introduced a vigorous support policy to welcome foreign students into French educational institutions. This policy was introduced and followed through by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education. This new policy, based on the way of life, has shown its success very quickly: in the 1999/2000 academic year, with 12000 foreign students more, the total of these students is now of 162 000. International students accounted for about 11 percent of higher education enrollment in recent years with many students drawn to arts, history and architecture programs. France is one of the most popular countries for international students. The general universities are open to all applicants that qualify to attend a university or college in their own country. The professional or specialized schools are more selective so applicants will need to provide academic records and may need to take entrance exams before being accepted.
International students are admitted to the highly-regarded grandes écoles based on their academic record with most students attending only after completion of some post-secondary schooling elsewhere. In the information technology sector, France ranks second in Europe and fourth in the world for US investment. For students interested in art, cinema and fashion, France is a virtual Mecca. If your interests take a more political, philosophical or economic turn, France is a great place to study. No discussion of France would be complete without mention of its honored tradition in the culinary arts. Every year, thousands of hopeful chefs travel to France in hopes of training with the best.
France is rated in the top tier of the United Nations Education Index and Human Development Index.
Tuition for international students is the same as for citizens and is rarely higher than 300 euros a year. France has a high cost of living so students should plan on having at least 1000 euros per month for living expenses.
Other requirements for international students include:
- French language fluency, which usually needs to be proven via a French language proficiency exam that can usually be taken in one's home country.
- Possession of a student visa.
- Submission of a preliminary application of admission. This must be done online by residents of thirty participating countries.

The French Ministry of Higher Education and Research uses certain social criteria to award grants to French citizens and some international students—for example, students residing in France for more than two years whose residence for tax purposes is situated in France. The nation's regional councils offer grants for students and researchers enrolled in institutions located in their region. In some regions, grants may be available to international students enrolled at the region's institutions under exchange agreements with partner institutions abroad. On an average the French government supports 300 scholarship holders every year.

General Information
India is the largest democracy in the world, the 7th largest Country in the world, and one of the most ancient civilizations.
India's story is one of the grand epics of world history. Throughout thousands of years of great civilizations, invasions, the birth of religions and countless cataclysms, India has repeatedly proved itself to be, in the words of its first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, 'a bundle of contradictions held together by strong but invisible threads'. Indian history has always been a work-in-progress, a constant process of reinvention and accumulation that can prove elusive for those seeking to grasp its essential essence. Yet, from its myriad upheavals, a vibrant, diverse and thoroughly modern nation has emerged, as enduring as it is dynamic and increasingly well equipped to meet the challenges of the future.
It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Mainland India is bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the west, and the Bay of Bengal on the east; and it is bordered by Pakistan to the west; Bhutan, the People's Republic of China and Nepal to the north; and Bangladesh and Burma to the east. In the Indian Ocean, mainland India and the Lakshadweep Islands are near Sri Lanka and the Maldives, while India's Andaman share maritime border with Thailand and the Indonesian island of Sumatra in the Andaman Sea. India has a coastline of 7,517 kilometers (4,700 mi). India is a federal constitutional republic with a parliamentary democracy consisting of 28 states and seven union territories. Four major climatic groupings predominate in India: tropical wet, tropical dry, subtropical, and montane. A pluralistic, multilingual and multiethnic society where more than 300 languages are spoken, Since the introduction of market-based economic reforms in 1991, India has become one of the fastest growing major economies in the world; however, the country continues to face several poverty, illiteracy, corruption and public health related challenges. India is classified as a newly industrialized country and is one of the four BRIC nations. It is the worlds sixth de facto recognized nuclear and has the third-largest standing armed force in the world, while its military expenditure ranks tenth in the world. India is a regional power in South Asia.
Home to more than one billion people, the subcontinent bristles with an eclectic mélange of ethnic groups, which translates into an intoxicating cultural cocktail. For those seeking spiritual sustenance, India has oodles of sacrosanct sites and stirring philosophical epics, while history buffs will encounter gems from the past almost everywhere – from grand vestiges of the British Raj serenely peering over swarming spice bazaars, to crumbling fortresses looming high above plunging ravines. Meanwhile, aficionado of the great outdoors can paddle in the shimmering waters of one of many balmy beaches, scout for big jungle cats on a blood-pumping wildlife safari, or simply inhale pine-scented air on a meditative forest walk.
Once you touch down on sub continental soil, you will quickly discover that cricket – India's sporting obsession – is one of the most spirited topics of conversation, along with the latest shenanigans in the razzle-dazzle world of Bollywood. However, it is politics – whether at the national, state or village level – that consistently dominates news headlines, with middle- and upper-class India also keenly keeping its finger on the pulse of international events. On the home front, economic matters feature high on the national political agenda. With one of the world's fastest-growing economies, India has certainly made giant strides over the past decade.
Why India?
- India represents world's one of the most ancient culture and heritage.
- It is a big market with more than one billion people and is a trillion dollar economy.
- Presently, it is also the world's one stop software supermarket.
- It is safe and secure to visit.
JAPAN
Japan is a stable and highly developed country with a parliamentary democracy. A
student interested in the politics of Asia, international relations, or world affairs
should take advantage of the opportunities that study abroad in a country like Japan
provides. The greatest appeal of studying in Japan is its academic environment where
one can study state-of-the-art technology and acquire the knowledge that enabled
Japan's phenomenal postwar economic growth. Whether it is electronics, Japanese
literature, medicine or international business administration,
Japanese universities and other institutes of higher education can offer course studies or research programs of virtually any field.
Internationally respected universities are a part of the higher education landscape in Japan which includes national universities, local universities and numerous private universities. Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyusyu, Okinawa, Shikoku, and Tokyo are the main cities where most of the institutions are located. Although the public universities are the most highly regarded, about 80 percent of university students attend private universities.
Japan has set a goal of recruiting 300,000 students by 2020. This effort will be led by 13 national universities including the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University which have been selected as global centers. One of the easier ways to attend school in Japan is through an exchange program, which are available through most of Japan's universities.
Applicants for full undergraduate and graduate programs will typically need to take the same entrance examinations required of Japanese citizens as well as an examination specific to international students that will confirm language fluency as well as academic readiness.
Tuition for international students is the same as for local students with national universities costing the least, private universities costing the most and local public universities somewhere in between. Tuition rates are comparable to rates in countries such as the United States and United Kingdom.
Many institutions of higher education, such as universities and junior colleges, are well equipped with fine research, computer, and library facilities and enable students to carry out their research in an excellent environment.
Japan has the second largest economy in the world, much of it built on advanced technology in industries such as electronics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and textiles. Internships abound for students in all fields of study, including political science, business, engineering, social sciences, education, economics, science and technology, and students can learn a great deal from the dedicated and hardworking Japanese.
Most undergraduate and graduate courses are taught in Japanese so mastery of the language is necessary except for select English-only degree programs. The number of programs taught in English has started to increase, as a way to attract more international students.

General Information
From exquisite gardens and quiet temples to frenetic city streets and fast-paced businesses and universities, Japan offers students a wide variety of opportunities to experience a different culture and pursue an education in a world-class setting.
The country's economy has seen unprecedented growth over the past few decades, thanks in part to Japanese ideals of a strong work ethic, coupled with a mastery of high technology. In fact, Japan ranks as the second-most technologically-powerful economy after the United States. One thing that makes Japan so unique is that it successfully retains its Eastern culture, but employs Western technology at the same time. Japanese technology is so advanced that the country owns nearly 60% of the world's robots, and is one of world's largest and most advanced producers of automobiles. Japan is also a country with rich nature, diverse topography, and beautiful turns of the seasons.
Students can try their hand at ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging, and shodou, Japanese calligraphy. One famous Japanese pastime is origami, or the art of paper folding, which also forms the basis of advanced research for physicists, mathematicians and engineers.
Students will notice Japanese of all ages reading manga, comics that cover a broad range of topics from fantasy to business and commerce. They are also a great study tool for students studying Japanese. Anime, animated films based on all genres of fiction, is another popular media. A movement is underway in Japan to take a more academic approach to these art forms.
